CLEVELAND, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Richik Sarkar, a Member in McGlinchey Stafford's Cleveland office, has been featured in a spotlight video on diversity for Cleveland news outlet WKYC's "Square Talk."
Sarkar, who was recognized as one of Crain's Cleveland Business' "Who to Watch in Law" 2016, discusses how organizations can improve diversity within their ranks in this video clip. Sarkar serves as a Board Member of the Greater Cleveland Partnership's Commission on Economic Inclusion, which he mentions in the video as a resource for diversity statistics such as leadership, personnel, and supplier diversity.
In the video, Sarkar discusses the role of diversity as a competitive advantage, and how actively focusing on improving diversity can help companies improve their revenue by consciously improving their diversity amongst leadership.
According to Sarkar, higher-performing companies in the region have done well in establishing diversity among their ranks, or they have developed strategic plans to improve internal diversity.
Describing what steps companies should take to evaluate their diversity metrics and improve outcomes, Sarkar notes that beginning steps for business leaders include "deliberate thinking about how [companies are] deciding who [they] want to meet when hiring, who [they're] actually hiring, and who's involved in the hiring process."
Sarkar actively serves in leadership roles within organizations focused on diversity within the business community and the legal profession. He is Past Director of the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, a Board member and Past President of the South Asian Bar Association of Ohio, and a member of the Board of the Asian American Bar Association of Ohio.
