MCEC Partners with TPA to Offer Professional Development
MCEC will provide face-to-face and online professional development training to selected TPA members.
HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas, Dec. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC) has partnered with The Professional Association of Boys & Girls Clubs (TPA) to offer professional development training to its members. The MCEC Professional Development Certification Program, accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), empowers Boys & Girls Club (B&GC) staff members to identify and address the needs of children experiencing issues related to mobility, family separation, and transition to enhance positive youth development efforts.
The program offers a systematic approach to professional development growth through research-informed strategies addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of the child. Participants will learn strategies to address strengths and stressors in children and youth, identify skills and techniques to work with children who have exceptional needs, and determine how to build resilience in children. The three tiered program, featuring increasingly advanced curriculum, offers professional development growth within an organization. TPA, distinguished as the catalyst for the newly developed certification program, will take the lead in offering scholarships to local chapter members in 2016 with a goal of expanding the opportunity to all members in 2017.
TPA's vision is to help each Association member reach their full potential as individuals and youth development professionals. TPA's partnership with MCEC is designed to provide these professionals with the resources they need to optimally impact youth.
