A Bridgeport mainstay since 1976, the restaurant was completely demolished in August and reopened earlier this month. That quick construction – from dirt to done in just 43 days – is a new speed record for the chain that's already known for speedy service.
And to celebrate the glistening new building's debut, the restaurant offered McDonald's iconic Big Mac sandwich for a record-breaking price: $100.
That's right – One hundred smackers. A C-Note. A big Benjamin.
If that seems like a steep price to pay, consider that each buyer enjoyed twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettucecheesepicklesonionsonasesameseedbun AND an audience with Mike Delligatti, son of the famous sandwich's inventor.
The inflated selling price was the brainchild of Jack and John Ebert, the father/son team who together own 16 McDonald's restaurants in North Central West Virginia and Western Maryland. All proceeds from the unique promotion will be donated to local charities including Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown and United Way of Harrison County.
"The people of Bridgeport have embraced McDonald's for almost 40 years. This Big Mac event was our way of giving back to the community that has been so kind to us. We're delighted to have raised more than $6,200 to support local charities," said John Ebert.
