Matthew J. Cavanagh (Cleveland) Cavanagh is an experienced litigator with a focus on intellectual property litigation. He has litigated a broad array of cases in almost every legal area, including patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, trade secret, false advertising, defamation, breach of contract, and criminal. Cavanagh, a licensed patent attorney, also helps clients apply for and obtain U.S. and foreign patents, trademarks and copyrights. He regularly provides advice to clients regarding the protection, enforcement, purchase, and licensing of intellectual property.
Cavanagh has a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a Mechanical Engineering degree from Boston University.
Jeremy M. Colvin (West Palm Beach) Colvin is a commercial litigator who handles complex business disputes in a variety of contexts, such as securities litigation/arbitration, commercial foreclosures, lender liability claims, partnership disputes, enforcement of restrictive covenants, breach of contract claims, employment litigation, general insurance defense matters, condominium/homeowners' association litigation, and legal malpractice. Colvin frequently handles cases before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where he defends brokerage firms, registered representatives and financial advisors.
Colvin earned his J.D. from Western New England College School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Siena College.
Heather M. Kern (Cleveland) Kern vigorously defends employers and supervisory personnel in a variety of employment-related disputes, with experience both litigating and resolving claims of discrimination, harassment and alleged violations of state and federal laws. She pursues enforcement of employers' rights in matters involving non-competition agreements and unlawful use of trade secrets. Kern advises clients regarding data privacy and cybersecurity concerns, including compliance with a variety of state and federal laws.
Kern has a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame College of Ohio.
Timothy J. Lowe (Detroit) Lowe has wide-ranging experience in the areas of business and commercial litigation including business, construction, automotive supply chain, sales representative, and real property disputes.
Lowe earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Aquinas College.
Chad J. Richman (Chicago) Richman has significant experience in a broad range of real estate, finance, transactional, and general business matters. His real estate practice includes acquisitions and dispositions, development, leasing, fund formation, venture structuring, and complex financing involving all types of real estate uses. He has specific expertise in secured loan purchases and sales, foreclosures and workouts. Richman also regularly represents publicly and privately held companies on a wide spectrum of structuring and operational issues.
Richman has a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University.
Jason M. Smith (Cleveland) Smith focuses his practice on real estate transactions and commercial finance and lending. He has commercial finance experience assisting in the representation of lenders and borrowers in a variety of transactions, such as real estate acquisition, development and construction loan transactions, asset-based finance transactions, and structured and mezzanine finance transactions. Amy Spagnole-DeRosa (Miami) Spagnole-DeRosa focuses on a variety of intellectual property law matters, with a particular emphasis on strategic portfolio development, protection and enforcement of trademarks and copyrights, licensing, and e-commerce transactions. She works with clients in a broad range of industries to develop and implement cost-beneficial domestic and international intellectual property registration and protection strategies designed to maximize the return on investment.
