CLEVELAND, Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- James A. Dimitrijevs and Grant A. Monachino have joined McDonald Hopkins LLC as Members of the firm's Intellectual Property Practice in the Cleveland office. Both attorneys specialize in assisting clients with protecting trademarks and resolving trademark conflicts throughout the world, as well as litigating trademark, copyright and false advertising disputes in the U.S. "Jim and Grant are highly experienced trademark attorneys who further strengthen our intellectual property team," said David B. Dimitrijevs advises domestic and international clients on strategic management of intellectual property, including obtaining trademark and copyright registrations, licensing, and the acquisition, licensing and sale of intellectual property assets. He also provides counsel on transactional matters and disputes related to trade secrets, false advertising, trademarks, and copyrights. Dimitrijevs oversees the worldwide trademark assets for some major retailers as well as consumer products and industrial manufacturing companies. His expertise includes prosecuting and enforcing color marks, product configuration marks and other less common types of source identifiers. In addition, Dimitrijevs protects the domain name rights of his clients through UDRP actions, works with Customs offices to prevent products bearing infringing marks from being imported or exported, and manages due diligence investigations for mergers and acquisitions. His litigation experience includes trademark and false advertising matters in federal court.
A 1989 graduate of John Carroll University, Dimitrijevs received his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1994. He has taught trademark law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and served as President of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association. He is the author of many articles and presentations on trademark law.

Monachino focuses his practice on intellectual property portfolio management and litigation and counsels clients on the acquisition, clearance, maintenance, licensing, enforcement, and transfer of trademarks and other intellectual property. He has considerable experience managing domestic and international trademark portfolios. In addition to representing clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, Monachino represents clients in trademark infringement, false advertising, copyright infringement, right of publicity, and other unfair competition actions in state and federal court. He has also represented and counseled clients in a broad range of other intellectual property matters, including administrative proceedings under the UDRP.
