MCALLEN, Texas, April 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A new Sam's Club will officially open to the public on Thursday, April 26, following an 8 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. Located in the new Valencia Marketplace shopping center at 7601 N. 10th Street, this Sam's Club will be McAllen's second location.
In addition to quality meats and fresh produce, the 139,000-square-foot club will feature fresh flowers with a 7-day guarantee, best-selling books, tires, and sporting equipment. Office supplies, vending machine snacks and paper goods prepare small business members for success. Additional benefits for small business owners include early shopping hours, personal shopping through Click 'n' Pull®, truck load savings, and access to quality items most often used by foodservice businesses, restaurant owners and caterers.
Sam's Club pharmacy, open to members and the public, features $4 and $10 generic prescriptions and savings on branded prescriptions. The club also features an optical department and a new hearing aid center. Grand Opening Event
The grand opening ceremony will take place at 8 a.m., April 26, featuring performances by UTPA Mariachi Aztlan and Folklorica dancers.
Each day during club operating hours, from grand opening day through Sunday, April 29, the club will host a parking lot grilling event featuring Kiolbassa sausage products. Inside the club will be product samplings of Sadler's Breakfast products and Cookie Mania, a selection of mix-and-match cookies.
Sam's Club Brings Employment Opportunities to McAllen families
Club Manager Grace Martinez is one of 10 McAllen associates who have worked for Sam's Club for more than 20 years. Martinez began her Sam's Club career in 1988 as an hourly associate in San Antonio. She was promoted to work in an area market office and then began training to be a club manager. Martinez also led the Brownsville club for more than three years before coming to McAllen as manager of the Jackson Avenue club in 2008.
The new Sam's Club will employ approximately 178 associates.
