MBX's Jill Bellak Wins Gold & Silver Stevie® Awards for Women in Business
Includes Top Honors in Woman of the Year/Industry Category
LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Jill Bellak, President and Chief Operating Officer of custom server appliance manufacturer MBX Systems, has won Gold honors in the Woman of the Year/Industry category as well as Silver recognition in the Female Executive of the Year/Business Products category in the 10th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The awards recognize Bellak's contribution to building MBX into a leading designer and supplier of custom servers used by organizations from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world's top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organizations they run. Winners were chosen from more than 1,200 entries submitted from 18 countries in over 90 categories, and announced November 8. All winners are posted at http://www.stevieawards.com/pubs/women/awards/414_2252_24145.cfm
"We operate in a highly competitive market where the business goes to the builder that can provide the most highly customized service and deliver appliances that will not fail in the field. Being able to meet these needs requires teamwork, talent and a company-wide commitment to quality," Bellak said. "My name is on these awards, but they really belong to the whole MBX team and a corporate culture that has fueled steady growth for nearly two decades."
Bellak joined MBX as VP of Sales and Marketing in 1999. In her early years at the company, she was instrumental in shifting the business focus to the custom OEM server appliance market to meet demand from enterprise software vendors needing to deliver their applications pre-loaded on optimized hardware platforms. She also played a central role in building the business through efforts ranging from identifying services to differentiate MBX from competitors, to driving a major investment in custom-built manufacturing software to support the company's complex scheduling, workflow and quality control needs.
In 2012, when MBX reached near-capacity in its existing building thanks largely to those strategic decisions, Bellak initiated a move to a larger plant that has quadrupled the company's physical space, octupled the size of the plant floor, and allowed MBX to implement changes in manufacturing processes that have increased the number of servers the company can build from 5,000 to 20,000 per shift. The new facility has helped MBX drive a 30% increase in revenues in 12 months.
"Jill is involved in every aspect of the business, from hiring, engineering and operations to strategic planning. Her contributions in shaping the company and shepherding the team have been enormous," said MBX CEO Tom Crowley. "It's gratifying to see her get recognition for her vision, her hard work and her success in helping put MBX on the map in our area of the market."
