Mazatlan Announces New Direct Flight Service from Los Angeles with Delta Air Lines
Daily flights will begin December 20, 2014 and increase air capacity to Mazatlan by 15 percent.
MAZATLAN, Mexico, April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazatlan, Mexico's "Colonial City on the Beach," today announced that Delta Air Lines will service Mazatlan International Airport (MZT) with daily, non-stop flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) beginning on December 20, 2014. Delta Air Lines will become the first major U.S. airline to provide daily, year-round flights to Mazatlan from Los Angeles, increasing air capacity by 15 percent with 160 seats per flight on its Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. Other U.S. carriers currently servicing Mazatlan from Los Angeles include Alaska Airlines, with direct flights, and US Airways, with flights connecting through Phoenix.

Delta Air Lines' new flight from Los Angeles will bring approximately 4,960 additional airline seats to Mazatlan each month, representing a potential tourism-related revenue boost to the city by $1.9 million per month through consumer spending on hotels, restaurants, shopping and transportation services.
Los Angeles is an increasingly important market for Mazatlan, serving as a major West Coast travel hub for connecting flights from San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; Boise, Idaho; Seattle, Washington; and Portland, Oregon. Other significant connecting markets include New York City; Atlanta; and Minneapolis.
