Mayorga Coffee Donates Five Percent of Profits to the Fabretto Children's Foundation
ROCKVILLE, Md., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayorga Coffee commits to donate five percent of its overall company profits in 2010 to the Fabretto Children's Foundation (Fabretto.org). Fabretto's mission is to enable impoverished Nicaraguan children and their families in underserved communities to break the cycle of poverty, with programs that promote nutrition, health, education, community, and character development.
Founded over 12 years ago with the goal of supporting coffee farmers and their communities, Mayorga Coffee is proudly evolving its commitment to supporting the global communities in which it operates. Through this strategic partnership with Fabretto, Mayorga Coffee will help more than 300 families in the coffee growing region of Las Sabanas. Alexandra Garcia, President of the Fabretto Children's Foundation elaborates, "This exciting new partnership will help our students in the northern mountains of Nicaragua receive a quality secondary education. The funding will be used to support teacher salaries, technical training, and the purchase of school supplies and equipment. We are thrilled to have such a generous and well regarded partner as Mayorga Coffee helping us meet our mission goals."
This commitment to Fabretto is one that has been at the heart of owners Martin and Kerry Mayorga for years. President Martin Mayorga states, "We are fortunate to have developed a broad, discerning customer base that allows us to source top quality coffee from like-minded farmers and now we can evolve our commitment to origin by partnering with Fabretto." The Fabretto Children's Foundation and its staff have at its core the principles of providing opportunity for education, which is directly in line with Mayorga Coffee's value for providing all of our partners and staff with opportunities to grow and become better members of our local community. He continues, "Having spent my childhood in Latin America, I greatly appreciate the opportunities afforded to me after coming to the U.S. and I am proud to be in a position to support the great people behind Fabretto." This partnership is the first of its kind for Mayorga Coffee which continues to expand its philanthropic reach into the global community by sourcing all of their coffees direct from farmers at a fair price and then investing a portion of the proceeds back into the coffee farming community.
