Mayor William Peduto's Office Appoints Cohen & Grigsby Attorney Ana Maria Mieles to Welcoming Pittsburgh Advisory Council

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Business law firm Cohen & Grigsby is pleased to announce that attorney Ana Maria Mieles was named to the Welcoming Pittsburgh Advisory Council by Mayor William Peduto's office.  Launched in May 2014, Welcoming Pittsburgh is a citywide initiative designed to celebrate the city's immigrant past and plan for a positive future for new immigrants.  Over the next six months, the 40-member advisory council is tasked with developing a plan that engages residents, city government, businesses and community groups to help create a more welcoming experience for immigrants in Pittsburgh.

Council members were selected from more than 100 applicants based on their knowledge of the diverse needs and challenges that immigrants face.  Council members also offer a variety of expertise in industries, including finance, law, education and human services.  After completion of the Welcoming Pittsburgh plan, council members will have the opportunity to serve as Welcoming Pittsburgh ambassadors who will help implement the plan's goals and objectives.   

Mieles is a partner at the firm and member of the Immigration Group where she provides counsel on employment-based temporary and permanent visa categories to small- and medium-sized for profit organizations and large multinational companies, as well as on family-based permanent residence applications to individual clients. Her clients include companies in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, financial services, engineering, information technology, nuclear, and steel industries.  Mieles is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Hispanic Attorneys Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
