NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) has named May-Leng Yau-Patterson, Head of World Class Manufacturing Mexico Operations for FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler Group), 2017 "Woman of the Year." While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only one woman is chosen for "Woman of the Year."
May-Leng was selected for this honor based on her years of experience in the field, her endless list of professional accomplishments, her academic achievements, her leadership abilities and most importantly, her success as a woman in a male dominated industry.
With over three decades of professional experience in the logistics and manufacturing industry, May-Leng has established herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. Starting as a Lead Logistics Analyst, she worked her way up, assuming positions with increasing responsibility for prestigious companies that included Ryder Logistics, TNT Logistics, Exel Logistics and General Motors.
As the current Head of World Class Manufacturing Mexico Operations, May-Leng is responsible for leading and coaching plant managers and their leadership teams at the assembly, engine and stamping plants in the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM). She is responsible for the development and engagement of people in the application of the WCM technical methods and tools to achieve operational excellence. May-Leng is also a certified Global WCM Auditor who performs audits at facilities around the world.
May-Leng has been recognized worldwide and received numerous awards for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. She was selected as Pinnacle Professional of the Year, honored as 2016 Top Professional of the Year in Manufacturing by the International Association of Top Professionals; awarded Prominent Professional Woman of The Year in the Automotive industry; named one of Automotive News' 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry; honored as a Delegate Featured Leader by the IWLA; recipient of the Women of Color Achievement, and awarded Professional of the Year by Who's Who. May-Leng was featured in ICE Magazine, Top 101 Industry Experts publication and Automotive News September 2010 edition. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Systems Analysis and Master of Science in Operations Research from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
