TARRYTOWN, N.Y., June 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Americans from coast to coast have cast their votes for three deserving community centers to receive up to $50,000 in renovations from "Drops of Good: The Maxwell House Community Project." With the votes tallied, the winning community centers are:
- Charlotte: Urban Ministry Center
- Detroit: Center for Urban Youth and Family Development
- Minneapolis/St. Paul: American Indian Family Center
Maxwell House launched the second annual "Drops of Good" program to bring change to struggling communities by revitalizing crucial community centers. In partnership with Rebuilding Together, Maxwell House identified 10 worthy community centers from across the United States and asked Americans to vote for their favorite three to receive major renovations. The seven remaining community centers (located in Baltimore, Houston, Los Angeles, Orlando, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis) will each be awarded $5,000 grants from Maxwell House to continue flourishing in their local communities.
Beginning in July, Maxwell House will hit the road in a specially equipped truck to facilitate the renovations at each of the winning community centers. Along the way, the Maxwell House crew will deliver surprise "Drops of Good" grants to 10 additional worthy non-profit organizations, helping them continue making a difference in their neighborhoods.
"We're thrilled that so many Americans rallied behind these neighborhoods in need and voted for their favorite community center," said Corey Provine, Maxwell House Senior Brand Manager. "Maxwell House is looking forward to hitting the road this summer to continue making a difference in these communities and work hand in hand with local volunteers."
