Maxwell House Announces "Drops of Good" Community House Winners
Five Organizations Will Receive Up To $50,000 In Renovations
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., June 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Americans have spoken and chosen five deserving community houses in need to receive up to $50,000 in renovations from "Drops of Good: The Maxwell House Community Project." With more than two million votes tallied, the winning community houses are:
- Atlanta: Adamsville Recreation Center
- Denver: The Grow Haus
- Los Angeles: Watts Labor Community Action Committee
- New York City: Mill Brook Community Center
- Philadelphia: Community Education Center
Community houses often serve as the nerve center of neighborhoods, but many of them are struggling due to a lack of funding. Maxwell House, in partnership with Rebuilding Together, launched "Drops of Good" to help revitalize these communities. As part of the "Drops of Good" project, ten worthy community houses across the United States were identified in April and Americans voted for their favorite five to receive the makeover of a lifetime through major renovations. The five remaining community houses (located in Chicago, Indianapolis, Miami, Minneapolis and Nashville) will be awarded $5,000 grants from Maxwell House to continue brewing good deeds in their communities.
In addition, "Drops of Good" also gives people everywhere a chance to get involved by nominating 501(c)(3) groups in their community to receive a "Do-Gooder Grant." From now through October, 100 worthy organizations will be awarded $1,000 grants, and on October 24, one of those groups will receive an additional $10,000 grant.
"We had a tremendous outpouring of votes from people across the country and we are excited to announce the winning community houses," said Becky McAninch, Maxwell House Senior Brand Manager. "Maxwell House is looking forward to fueling good deeds as we get our hands dirty with the local volunteers at each renovation."
