Max Polyakov's Earth Observation Industry Start-up Reveals Innovative New Capabilities
MENLO PARK, California, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Max Polyakov of Earth Observing System (EOS), a Menlo Park-based start-up, announces the release of a unique cloud-based platform called EOS Engine™, which turns raw earth observation data from any source into timely, relevant intelligence for business, science, and non-governmental organizations. EOS Engine™ is the result of three years of extensive collaboration between 160 EOS data scientists and software engineers, and Fortune 500 industry partners to develop a product that has applicability to a growing body of real-world issues.
Unimaginably large quantities of earth observation imagery data are available daily from satellites, drones, airplanes, and synthetic aperture radar. Analyzed properly, this data has the potential to reveal changes in the earth's surface that are of vital interest to businesses, governments, scientists, and humanitarian organizations alike. For example, such datasets can be used to monitor crop, oil and gas production in real time to inform decisions of policy makers, environmentalists, or commodities traders. Max Polyakov had the EOS Engine™ platform designed from the ground up to be data independent—that is, able to analyze earth observation imagery data from multiple sensor types—and capable of producing analyses of this data on-the-fly. This means that the intelligence capabilities of EOS are more vast, precise, and accessible than any other earth observation intelligence product on the market.
The power of EOS Engine™ comes from its large and growing knowledge base derived from genuine use cases involving scientific research in 22 different industry verticals, such as agriculture, oil and gas, forestry, maritime, and more. Customers use Workbench™, a user-friendly interface, to easily and rapidly configure use cases. Once configured, the use case "persists," so that as new imagery data comes in, updated analyses are generated on-the-fly. Max Polyakov ensured that Workbench™ can reduce the need for software programmers and data scientists to develop new software code to address every new use case, a potentially expensive and time-consuming process for commercial entities and non-governmental organizations.
The marriage of the technical capabilities of the EOS Engine™ with the company's extensive, and growing, knowledge base of applications is represented by EOS Neural Atlas™. The EOS Neural Atlas™ demonstrates the almost inconceivable intelligence potential that comes from coupling earth observation datasets with various analytic methods in response to new use cases. Under the continued direction of Marc Fagan, EOS Data Analytics CEO, the synergy between the EOS Engine™ and the expanding knowledge base of EOS means that the EOS Neural Atlas™ is constantly evolving, establishing new connections between the datasets and the analytics and pointing toward new applications.
In addition to EOS Workbench™, EOS has developed LandViewer™ (https://eos.com/landviewer/), a product that demonstrates the application of on-the-fly analytics to various sensor types, providing an introduction to the rapidly evolving earth observation industry. The EOS business model offers a subscription service to EOS Workbench™ and free access to EOS LandViewer™. EOS was founded in 2015 by Max Polyakov and is based in Menlo Park.
