Mavenir Brings Virtualized IMS Solutions for VoLTE and RCS to Mobile Operator Core Networks
Leveraging Cloud Infrastructure for Rapid, Cost Effective Scaling of New Communication Services
RICHARDSON, Texas, Feb. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mavenir Systems, a leading provider of software-based networking solutions, today announced another market game changer, Virtualized IMS Solutions for 4G core networks, including VoLTE & RCS 5, based on the mOne® Convergence Platform.
Using Mavenir's Automated mCloud™ Manager in conjunction with VMware's virtualization technology allows the creation and management of Telco grade service availability in an environment based on a wide range of off-the-shelf hardware solutions. Mavenir brings its expertise in creating highly scalable and resilient IMS solutions to the technologies that are commonly used in large scale IT data centers. These virtualized IMS solutions can be flexibly deployed to meet business needs such as multi-tenancy and capacity elasticity.
Leading Tier-1 operators in Europe are currently rolling out Mavenir's Virtualized IMS technology as part of their VoLTE / IMS rollouts.
Pardeep Kohli, president and CEO Mavenir Systems, said, "Virtualization is a means for mobile operators to build the next generation core network, while fundamentally changing the cost equation that historically involved paying price premiums for proprietary HW to provide optimal, cost effective performance. Simply put, virtualization enables an economy of scale not previously available to mobile operators."
"Mavenir's virtualization technology provides the capacity and elasticity to cost-effectively manage the anticipated growth in VoLTE and RCS," he added.
Mavenir's mOne® Convergence Platform intelligently uses standard APIs to dynamically provision additional hardware resources in response to spikes in traffic, or to share hardware resources with other applications to scale hardware utilization for scheduled peak periods. These software-based core networks, in which applications are abstracted from hardware, provide operators with a deployment model that leverages the economic benefits of cloud infrastructure, and enables them to rapidly add new communications services and scale as the market evolves.
"Mobile operators need and want programmable and elastic core networks," said Gabriel Brown, senior analyst, Heavy Reading. "IMS virtualization is an opportunity to capture the efficiency gains associated with commercial hardware and, even more importantly, to create a forward-looking core network architecture that can be configured in software to better fit different customer types, use-cases and scaling scenarios."
These Virtualized IMS Solutions build on Mavenir's IMS expertise and experience in solving network transformation issues, and are key enablers in the rapid delivery of IP-based voice, video, rich communications and enhanced messaging services in 2013.
There will be a demonstration of 'Capacity Elasticity of a Virtualized IMS System' at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, at Booth 6E60. Interested?
