LAHAINA, Hawaii, Feb. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Maui Jim, the leading independently-owned, premium sunglass brand has once again merged art with technology as it launches the Curated Collection—a limited edition collaboration with internationally renowned Maui artist, Charlie Lyon. This unique and fashion-forward line of Maui Jim sunglasses brings the spirit of the islands to life with two new frames—Vibes and Rhythm. Like all Maui Jim sunglasses, both styles feature Maui Jim's revolutionary lens technology—PolarizedPlus2®—which provides the most advanced sun protection available, and blocks harmful UV rays while improving contrast and enhancing visual acuity.
The classic frame lines of each style are elevated with Lyon's detailed triptych paintings made up of three separate canvases that showcase a single story of animals, natural elements and the rhythm of Maui's active ocean lifestyle. The Curated Collection, available February 12, offers three different color options including, Black Gloss, Navy Blue and Tortoise to give wearers a piece of Maui and offer an effortlessly stylish look that fits into any look from the coast to the city.
"I identify with the Maui Jim brand and rely on their lenses to help me see the true colors of my environment, so when the opportunity to work on a second collaboration arose, I was stoked," said Charlie Lyon. "As an artist with an active lifestyle, I've always been inspired by nature, so my painting in each frame tells the story of the rhythm and vibes of life in the islands."
Lyon began his career at a young age painting surfboards for Freeline Design in Santa Cruz, California. He moved to Maui in 1991 where Hawaii's natural beauty continues to inspire his paintings that highlight nature's elements such as wind, waves, and wild life.
"At Maui Jim, we believe the outside world is a work of art. That's why we continue to collaborate with artists from many genres. Charlie Lyon is an exceptional artist who captures the essence of Hawaii and the natural beauty of the islands and ocean, and we couldn't be more excited to introduce a one-of-a-kind sunglass collection developed with him," said Diego de Castro, Maui Jim's Director of Brand Strategy. "Our new Curated Collection marries art and technology to help you perceive the world with more beauty and embrace the 'aloha spirit' every day. Plus, our proprietary PolarizedPlus2® lens technology helps people see the full spectrum of nature's palette—with every brush stroke of sea, sky, and sun rendered crisp, clean and vibrant before your eyes."
The Curated Collection, which is also available in prescription, is made with Maui Jim's optically correct, distortion-free lenses featuring patented lens treatments, and color and clarity enhancement. This limited-edition collection will be available on www.MauiJim.com and at specific local retailers starting February 12. To see more of Maui Jim's sunglasses and styles visit www.MauiJim.com
