Mattie Fein Slams Karl Rove and the Old Guard GOP in Op-ed
Has the Old Guard GOP Thrown Fein's Campaign Under the Bus to Keep Harman?
Fein to GOP Old Guard: Wake Up!
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mattie Fein, Republican nominee to unseat Jane Harman, writes a hard-hitting op-ed published last night on www.theothermccain.com and takes a swing at Rove and the GOP Old Guard after Rove's Fox News comments on Christine O'Donnell's primary victory. Fein's piece also highlights voter sentiment of rejecting the GOP Old Guard's endorsed candidates.
Fein stated that, "while I do not agree with many of O'Donnell's social issues or statements, her win is indicative of the rejection of politics as usual in the GOP." The op-ed published last night, also chronicles the Republican infighting and backroom deals Fein has experienced in her congressional race and Republican Old Guard that have worked to keep Jane Harman in office.
The NRCC Young Guns program which Fein describes as the "Shooting Blanks" program is a focal point of the piece. Fein interviewed with Kevin McCarthy and the NRCC last year prior to winning the Republican primary in June 2010. "Candidates need mentoring, guidance, assistance...not just their picture slapped up on the GOP website," observed Fein.
Jane Harman's Old Guard GOP business friends are outlined in the op-ed as Fein describes former Congressmen that have refused to assist her campaign due to backroom deals and financial and social ties to Jane Harman which are rumored to include Carly Fiorina, candidate for Senate.
Fein concludes that "the campaign will not be deterred by the snakes in the grass within the GOP. Kevin McCarthy, the RNC, Committeeman Shawn Steel for the RNC, and others need to wake up and understand that to me a majority is one woman with chutzpah."
