Matheson Trucking, Inc. Names Brock Vann As Director of Operations for Two Divisions
SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Matheson Trucking, Inc. announced that Brock M. Vann has been named Director of Operations with responsibility for overseeing both Matheson Postal Services and the Matheson Mail Transportation business units.
Vann comes to Matheson after serving as Regional Ramp Operations Manager with Schneider National, Inc. (SNI) of French Camp, California, where he was in charge of ramp operations in Stockton, Seattle and Portland as well as rail operations in Salt Lake City and Denver, over a nine-year period. Collectively these combined operations resulted in generating $93 million in revenue and shipped or delivered 83,000 freight loads in 2015 alone involving the supervision of a combined total of 118 drivers.

While with SNI, Vann developed a management paper on the impact of California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations on SNI operations in the state. In addition, he also led most of SNI's west coast Intermodal Operations with regard to service and safety, and was involved in a critical purchase decision to replace more than 200 trucks in California. Part of his overall responsibilities included training employees at all SNI locations on the use of intermodal dispatch tools and proven methods for improving freight optimization.
As a Lieutenant Commander and a highly decorated officer in the U.S. Navy, Vann received two Navy Achievement Medals for sustained, superior performance during operation Enduring Freedom in the wake of the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York.
Vann graduated from Washington State University in 1985 with a Bachelor's Degree and later served as a Professor of Transportation and as a member of the WSU Transportation Advisory Committee, where he created and taught a transportation course that launched the university's first logistics curriculum. In 1997 he returned to WSU and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
