Matheson Flight Extenders Has Immediate Openings for 25 Part-Time Employees and Plans to Add 25 More to Prepare for the Holiday Season
BILLINGS, Mont., Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Matheson Flight Extenders (MFE), with operations at the Billings Logan International Airport, is seeking 25 new part-time employees now, and plans to add 25 more in the near future to cope with the holiday package shipping rush through December 27.
Matheson Flight Extenders, based in Sacramento, California, provides a comprehensive range of ground support and terminal handling services to its customers in 20 hub cities coast to coast and 700 employees nationwide.
"As prosperity has returned following the long recession, we have been growing rapidly to keep pace with the increasing volume of packages being shipped in bulk by air cargo carriers," said Glen Gates, President of MFE. "Our facility in Billings, located on the airport grounds at 2191 Overlook Drive- west of the control tower, has 125 employees today. We need to add others right away and still more in advance of the Christmas package shipping season."
Starting pay for entry-level Material Handlers at $11.20 per hour is well above minimum wage. The shift that needs workers starts at 5:30 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m., Tuesdays through Saturday. This translates to a weekly salary of $140.00 or $616.00 per month, given an average of 22 business days per month. MFE also offers part-time employees access to group medical, dental and vision plans at competitive rates.
P.M. shifts are also available enabling part-time a.m. workers to double their salary. Full-time positions can also be filled as workers demonstrate proficiency, dedication and consistent attendance. Employee candidates must be at least 16 years of age, pass drug and background checks and be able to lift 50 pounds. On-the-job training is provided and employees may be certified as motorized equipment operators for tugs, de-icing vehicles, ground power units and other machinery.
Also under consideration is an attendance bonus after 30 days of continuous and satisfactory employment and potentially another bonus for those who stay through December 27.
"We believe this is an exceptional opportunity for young people age 16 and up, plus seniors, housewives and others to supplement their incomes, gain work experience and certifications while also being able to go to school or have other jobs while leaving the rest of the day free to pursue other activities. We like to tell people, why go to a gym when you can have a workout at the airport with Matheson," Mr. Gates Said. "We are an equal opportunity employer. Two of every five Matheson employees in Billings are women, and we also have several retirees working with us."
