Lawrence Tint, Knowles Board of Trustees Chairman, said, "She has an impressive resume that includes teaching and leadership in improving mathematics and science education. Her on-the-ground knowledge of teaching and insights about the state of education in the United States will be a tremendous resource to our Board of Trustees."

Currently, Sookhoo serves as an associate editor for the Knowles journal—Kaleidoscope: Educator Voices and Perspectives. In addition to her work with Knowles, she has presented at the annual meeting of the National Conference of Teachers of Mathematics on multiple occasions. "I am honored to serve as a Knowles Senior Fellow Trustee," stated Sookhoo. "I look forward to bringing my teaching experience, my passion for equity and identity work, and my unique perspective as a black woman in education to the table. Knowles has done so much for my math teaching career and I am more than ready to give back by helping to shape Knowles programs that serve math and science educators across the country."
