Master Sommelier Desmond Echavarrie joins Soutirage as Senior Wine Advisor
YOUNTVILLE, Calif., March 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Soutirage announced today that Master Sommelier Desmond "Desi" Echavarrie has joined the company as Senior Wine Advisor. Echavarrie will lead a team of wine specialists offering high-touch, concierge style wine services to clients on everything from building and diversifying wine collections to coordinating wine-focused events.
Echavarrie was most recently a sommelier with the French Laundry, where he had worked since 2011. Previously, he studied and worked with Gregg Tressner, MS at Mary Elaine's in Scottsdale, Arizona, and with Robert Smith, MS at Picasso in The Bellagio Resort, Las Vegas. His awards include: winner of the Chaine des Rotisseurs Best Young Sommelier competition for the United States in 2004; winner of the U.S.'s Top New Somm competition in 2011; and in July 2012, the Court of Master's highest-ranking designation, Master Sommelier.
Desi's love of the old and rare extends beyond wine & spirits; he and his fiancee, Heather, are restoring their 1910 Napa home, and he spends as much free time as possible working on a 1960 Porsche. Desi is an avid outdoorsman and accomplished kayaker.
