SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Debra Palermino, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), has been recognized as a 2015 Woman of Excellence by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE). Palermino is being lauded as the Corporate Women's Champion for her work within her company to ensure women's success.
Palermino is an industry veteran with more than 40 years of Human Resources experience in financial services. NAFE, one of the country's largest associations for women professionals and business owners, is recognizing Palermino for her work to advance women into management and executive level positions, her involvement with professional women's networks, as well as a range of other efforts.
"I am proud to receive this award on behalf of MassMutual," Palermino said, "and all that it represents for the great work we have done as a company. Most importantly, this NAFE award recognizes our company's leadership and achievement in breaking down barriers in the workplace and our understanding early on of the advantage that a truly diverse and inclusive workforce can have on our company's success."
This marks the second time in recent years that a MassMutual executive has been recognized by NAFE. Elaine Sarsynski, Executive Vice President, Retirement Services, was honored by NAFE with the Women of Excellence in International Achievement Award in 2012.
"The impressive 2015 NAFE Women of Excellence awardees include individuals who are exceptional at their jobs and notable for ensuring the success of women and girls," said Dr. Betty Spence, President of NAFE. "These awards spotlight unsung heroes like Deb both for their achievements and for their commitment to gender equity."
Palermino has been at the helm of MassMutual's Human Resources organization over the past decade, a time of exceptional growth within the company. In just the past few years, for example, MassMutual has been recognized as a Top 50 Company for Diversity by DiversityInc, a Working Mother 100 Best Company, a World's Most Ethical Company by Ethisphere, a Top 10 Company for Executive Women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and a Human Rights Campaign's Best Place to Work.
