MassMutual Retirement Services Sponsors "Plan Health and Retirement Readiness" Webcast
Attendance Among Highest To Date
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 800 retirement plan advisors and sponsors attended the recent Plan Health and Retirement Readiness webcast hosted by PLANSPONSOR® magazine and sponsored by MassMutual Retirement Services.
This informational webcast was presented by Fred Reish, partner/chair of the fiduciary services ERISA team at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP and Tina Wilson, CFA, vice president of product development, MassMutual Retirement Services. Moderated by PLANSPONSOR's founder and director Charlie Ruffel, the presenters directly addressed two key challenges facing the retirement industry today: 1) the importance of measuring plan health and 2) helping plan participants prepare for retirement.
Reish and Wilson reviewed the critical characteristics of the "new" retirement plan and discussed ways that plan advisors and sponsors can help improve overall plan health, prepare participants for retirement, and fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities.
An integral part of this framework, the MassMutual PlanSmart(SM) Analysis report, allows advisors and sponsors to gauge the health of a plan by assessing the percentage of employees likely to have enough income in retirement. And for participants, the RetireSmart(SM) Ready tool provides a simple way to assess their personal level of retirement readiness. The RetireSmart Ready tool frames the solution around the need to generate retirement income rather than accumulate a lump sum of money, while providing complete solutions they can implement. Both resources were presented by Wilson during the webcast.
"The outstanding attendance of this webcast signifies how important the topics of plan health and retirement readiness are to the retirement services industry today," states Elaine Sarsynski, executive vice president of MassMutual's Retirement Services Division and chairman and CEO of MassMutual International LLC. "MassMutual Retirement Services is uniquely positioned to help plan advisors and sponsors address these very important topics by providing tools designed to drive healthy outcomes. Our PlanSmart Analysis report is just one example of how overall plan effectiveness can be measured, understood, and ultimately improved," adds Sarsynski.
