Massive Labor Day Weekend Concert, RevGen 2010, Offers Special Welcome for Troops & Charitable Partners
Active Military Personnel to Receive Free Admission While 2010 Charitable Organizations Include E.R.A.C.E., The Blind Project, D.A.R.E. & More
FRENCHTOWN, N.J., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Revelation Generation (www.revgen.org), the tri-state regions most ascendant summer music festival, has unfurled a royal welcome for both active military personnel and a number of charitable organizations. These initiatives and partnerships reiterate the festival's desire to benefit the community – from New York to Philadelphia and from the Jersey Shore to western Pennsylvania. Active military personnel will receive free admission to the festival this Labor Day weekend (Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4 and 5), while major charitable organizations including The Blind Project, E.R.A.C.E., and Drug Awareness Resistance Program (D.A.R.E.) have come alongside the festival for this year's mammoth celebration of individual worth.
For festival organizers, the connection between a positive community experience and the dedication of our U.S. Troops is self evident. "RevGen is extremely grateful to those serving in the armed forces...those making it possible for our community to safely and freely come together for a great concert experience. This year, we wanted to express our appreciation," said festival founder Robert Grom. Active military personnel can claim their free ticket at the RevGen Ticket Booth by simply presenting a valid U.S. Military ID. Activated members of the National Guard or Reservists must present their orders in addition to a Military ID Card.
THE BLIND PROJECT
RevGen has announced The Blind Project as the primary charitable beneficiary for the 2010 edition, further expressing its tangible commitment to the region. The Manhattan-based charity raises awareness about the endemic cancer of the commercial sex trade through which millions of women and children are enslaved, exploited, and treated like meaningless commodities. The Blind Project also serves organizations that are rescuing and providing rehabilitation to sex trafficked victims and survivors and partners with multiple established aftercare facilities in Southeast Asia to meet the physical, social, emotional and economic needs of women at all points on the commercial sex trade spectrum. At RevGen, The Blind Project will be accepting donations for its programs and raising awareness about this widespread issue.
Co-Founder Anthony Dodero said, "The Blind Project is excited to partner with Revelation Generation for a powerful weekend of inspiration and community. Together we will stand for the restoration and renewal of those exploited and enslaved by the commercial sex trade."
"We are really excited to step alongside The Blind Project in encouraging people to lend their hands to writing new, positive stories for current and former victims of the commercial sex trade," said festival spokesman Sean Grom.
THE ERACE FOUNDATION
Festival organizers are also excited to welcome E.R.A.C.E., a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering racial harmony. E.R.A.C.E. -- co-founded 15 years ago by R & B/hip-hop artist Toby Mac -- focuses on dismantling the invisible yet socially destructive boundaries which facilitate human hatred and apathy and have been fortified over time by the divisiveness of racial discrimination. The foundation has been joined by a veritable entourage of artists who are committed to fusing their musical talents with their passion to encourage racial reconciliation. At RevGen 2010, artists including Toby Mac, Former Foreigner front man Lou Gramm, Grammy-Award winning artist/producer Tommy Sims, Marc Broussard, Gospel superstars and Grammy winners Mary Mary, and more will take the stage for a live improvisational performance of epic proportions. All proceeds from E.R.A.C.E. events are given to organizations which promote diversity.
"RevGen is already a diverse event," said New York Stage headliner Toby Mac, "and the All Star Jam will make it even more diverse."
In addition to the E.R.A.C.E. All Star Jam, other artists include Anberlin, Skillet, Relient K, The Devil Wears Prada, Fireflight, and The Almost.
D.A.R.E.
RevGen is also pleased to announce its continued partnership with Drug Awareness Resistance Program (D.A.R.E.), the largest school-based drug prevention agency in the world. In 2009, the world-renowned organization endorsed RevGen as the largest drug and violence free music event in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and the entire East Coast. As a primary charitable partner, D.A.R.E. will sell food to raise money for its programs, accept donations, and raise awareness about the effects of drug use.
"We are thrilled to partner up with an organization like Revelation Generation that is on the exact same page we are when it comes to providing positive experiences that are drug and violence free," said D.A.R.E. New Jersey Chairman Nick DeMauro. "RevGen truly is a unique experience where an incredible number of kids, families – anyone, really – can come together, experience some great music, and simply be themselves in a safe environment."
Hunterdon County based organizations Hunterdon Drug Awareness and Hunterdon Prevention will also be raising awareness about the impact of drug use within the local community. All charitable partners will be participating in public interview sessions in the Press Tent. For schedule times, please see the festival program, available at the RevGen Ticket Booth.
