JULIAN, W.Va., June 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Massey Energy Company (NYSE: MEE) today released the following statement as inspection teams from Massey Energy, Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) and West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training reentered the Upper Big Branch (UBB) Mine:

"At approximately 7:45 a.m. ET on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, the inspection teams reentered the Upper Big Branch Mine and they will continue to explore the initial entry areas of the mine. Air sample readings continue to indicate that conditions in the mine are stable.
