At today's Annual Meeting of Massey Energy Company, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Don Blankenship reviewed the Company's results for 2009 and assessed the Company's favorable prospects going forward. The Company is to partner with state and federal investigators to determine the cause of the April 5 accident at the Upper Big Branch Mine in West Virginia. Applying lessons learned regarding mine operations and safety is critically important to Massey Energy.
The final results, which will be certified by the Inspector of Election, will be contained in a Current Report on Form 8-K that will be filed within four business days of this Annual Meeting.
