JULIAN, W.Va., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In response to several media inquires, Massey Energy Company (NYSE: MEE) today released pictures taken by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) of a crack in the Upper Big Branch (UBB) mine floor. These pictures were taken as a part of the investigation into the April 5 mine accident in Montcoal, WV and were previously shared with family members. The pictures are images of a crack in the mine floor near the tail of the longwall. Massey Energy's Vice President and General Counsel, Shane Harvey, commented, "These photos show a crack in the mine floor in the longwall section of the UBB mine." Harvey continued, "The crack along with other potential sources in the mine need to be fully examined by Company, federal and state investigators as they continue the ongoing probe into the UBB mine accident."
