"The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has overwhelmingly supported JetBlue service from day one. Our customers appreciate the value that JetBlue provides when traveling," said John Checketts, director of route planning for JetBlue. "San Juan is the cornerstone of our growth in the Caribbean; today's announcement reinforces that commitment. As Puerto Rico's number one carrier, JetBlue continues to seek growth opportunities."
"We feel honored to have the support of a great airline like JetBlue, which has maintained an important expansion trend this year. The West Palm Beach route is new to Puerto Rico, while Newark provides a new option for passengers to get to Puerto Rico. These two flights will have an economic impact surpassing $50 million to the local economy. It is for this reason that the strengthening and expansion of air access is key to the economic development in Puerto Rico and the support and trust of the airlines in the Island is decisive for all," added the Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, Jose R. Perez-Riera.
"The announcement of this new service to San Juan clearly demonstrates the potential our airline partners see in our destination- particularly partners such as JetBlue," said Palm Beach County Director of Airports Bruce Pelly. "We are thrilled to be entering a new market and are confident its anticipated success will open even more doors into more markets for PBIA."
"We're very pleased that our friends at JetBlue have again invested in Palm Beach County and continue to understand the great appeal our destination holds among the markets they serve," said Palm Beach County Convention and Visitor's Bureau President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. "This is the second new service we've announced with JetBlue in less than three months. Clearly, Puerto Rico is a strong market and transportation hub which, in turn, opens up significant opportunities in the rest of the Caribbean."
