Marysville Public Schools Invests in the Health of its Students and Staff with Recent Purchase of Innovative Electrostatic Sprayer System

According to the latest seasonal influenza report from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS), the state of Michigan continues to experience a particularly unforgiving flu season, with a total of 1,014 influenza-related hospitalizations and 216 facility-specific outbreaks reported since the start of the season. A total of 14 of these outbreaks happened in schools across Michigan, resulting in numerous forced closures and as a result, negative financial implications related to losses in productivity, high student and teacher absenteeism and increased labor to adequately clean up¹.

The illness-causing viruses and bacteria that lead to these outbreaks like cold, influenza and highly-contagious stomach bugs like norovirus, which also resulted in a number of illnesses in Michigan last year, can survive on surfaces anywhere from days to months². Therefore, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces is a critical first step in protecting our schools.

Marysville Public Schools uses the Clorox^® Total 360^® System across all five of our schools to help protect the health and safety of all our staff and 2,800 students by allowing us to maintain a clean learning environment year-round. We currently use the system on a bi-weekly basis, in addition to our existing manual cleaning and disinfecting protocols, across our classrooms, cafeterias, restrooms, administrative offices, high school locker room and teacher breakrooms.
