Maryland Live! Casino And Anne Arundel County Award $16 Million In Local Impact Grants For FY2016
Local Grants to Benefit Numerous Anne Arundel County Based Organizations
HANOVER, Md., July 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Maryland Live! Casino and Anne Arundel County today awarded $16 million in local impact grants for fiscal year 2016 to various grant recipients as recommended by the Local Development Council (LDC), which helps to manage the allocation of county gaming tax revenue to local organizations.
Joe Weinberg, Managing Partner of The Cordish Companies, Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh, and Claire Louder, LDC Chairman, officially presented the $16 million in local impact grants to various recipients during a ceremony at Maryland Live! Casino.

Local officials in attendance to take part in the grant presentations, as well as accept grants on behalf of their various organizations included Senator James "Ed" DeGrange, Sr.; Anne Arundel County Police Chief Tim Altomare; John Yore, Principal, Meade High School; Dr. Dawn Lindsay, President of Anne Arundel Community College; Anne Arundel County Fire Chief Allan Graves; and representatives from many of the organizations that received community support grants.

"In addition, we have the opportunity to improve the athletic fields at Meade High School, adding restrooms adjacent to the field in place of the current porta-potties and lighting for the walkway from the field to the parking lot."
LDC impact
The Local Development Council was established in Anne Arundel County after the opening of Maryland Live! Casino on June 6, 2012. Appointed by the County Executive, the Local Development Council consists of 15 members to serve and advise the County on recommendations for the distribution and expenditure of revenues raised at Maryland Live! Casino through local impact grants.
Since its formation in 2012, the LDC has awarded over $67 million in grants towards county operational and capital programs, including over a million dollars in community grants.
Community based organizations and nonprofit groups located generally within a three mile radius of Maryland Live! Casino are eligible to apply for a local impact grant.
