Maryellen Douglass Van Royen is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Continental Who's Who recognizes Maryellen Douglass Van Royen, CHME, among Pinnacle Professionals in the field of Hospitality.  Maryellen is currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing, Philadelphia, PA.  This April, Maryellen received recognition from two other associations.

The International Women's Leadership Association honored her for her outstanding leadership & contribution to Family, Career and Community. The most recent recognition was during an award ceremony in New York City where she was acknowledged as VIP Woman of the Year for her achievements in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry by the National Association of Professional Women.

As Director of Sales and Marketing, Maryellen is responsible for the hotel's Sales and Marketing, Advertising, Revenue management, E-commerce, Social Media and Community & Public Relations. She has spent over two decades as a hospitality professional, and has shared her knowledge and experiences by mentoring hundreds of employees at iconic New York destinations including The Plaza Hotel, The New York Palace Hotel, Loews Regency- NY, and American Express.

She is a certified marketing executive with HSMAI. (Hospitality Sales and Marketing International).  Maryellen completed the Marketing program at New York University's Hospitality program as well as a Negotiations & Strategy Program at the Harvard Business School.  She earned a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont.

Furthermore, she is a member of the Business Travel Association, Association of Corporate Travel Executives, International Women's Leadership Association, (IWLA) and the National Association of Professional Women.  She has served as a Board Member for The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HSMAI) - The Big Apple Chapter, The Union Church of Bay Ridge Brooklyn, and Rittenhouse Row in Philadelphia, PA.

Maryellen volunteers to local organizations including Lombard Senior Citizens Center and Little Smiles (Littlesmiles.org) while also sponsoring a 12 year girl in the Philippines.  In addition, she is an Elder within The Presbytery of USA and currently sits on the Children's Committee at Old Pine Street Church in Philadelphia. Aside from the demands of work, Maryellen enjoys reading, travel, yoga and spending time with family & friends.  Maryellen has been married to Donald for over 20 years and a proud mother of Aidan M. Van Royen (12). Two years ago they moved from New York City and currently reside in Center City, Philadelphia, PA.
