SANTA CLARA, Calif. and TAIPEI, Taiwan, May 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Marvell (NASDAQ:MRVL), a world leader in storage, cloud infrastructure, Internet of Things (IoT), connectivity and multimedia semiconductor solutions, today announced the Marvell® 98DX83xx 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Campus aggregation switch with large and flexible fan-out 10GbE and 40GbE Ethernet ports. Extending Marvell's Prestera® DX family, the 98DX83xx family of multi-layer Ethernet switch devices is a new generation of highly-integrated packet processors built for service delivery in Campus 10GbE LAN access and aggregation switches, storage aggregation and server connectivity in the private cloud. The new product also can be implemented in interconnect applications requiring low-power 40GbE and 10GbE connectivity. The device is expected to be available in June 2016.
The next-generation Prestera DX devices are optimized for high density 10GbE Ethernet deployment in private cloud data center and enterprise environments. The 98DX83xx offers a programmable packet processing bandwidth of 320Gbps in a cost-optimized solution. The device supports managed L2 and L3 feature-rich packet processing, bringing software-defined networking (SDN) and switch abstraction interface (SAI) to the Campus access and aggregation layers. Marvell is offering the 98DX83xx with a full software stack turnkey solution.
"Marvell's 98DX83xx family of multi-layer Ethernet switch devices is designed for mass deployment of 10GbE in the campus and Enterprise Edge," said Michael Zimmerman, Vice President and General Manager, Connectivity, Storage and Infrastructure (CSI) Business Units at Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. "By incorporating advanced programmable tunneling technology such as VXLAN, NSH and SDN virtualization of flows into this new family of devices, we are helping bring our customers' unified architecture from the private cloud data center to the Campus aggregation for a converged Enterprise network."
Coupled with Marvell's 88X3340, 10GBASE-T and NBASE-T™ compliant 6-speed physical layer device (PHY) with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet, MACsec and PTP support, the Prestera 98DX83xx offers full 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1GbE, 2.5GbE, 5GbE and 10GbE BASE-T copper Ethernet connectivity.
