GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In votes tabulated on Friday, July 23, Marv Russow and his slate were elected to lead UFCW Local 951 for the next three years by a margin of 84 percent. Other officers elected were John Cakmakci, Secretary/Treasurer, Karin Hopman, Recorder, Morna Holt, First Vice President, Shirley Perez, First Vice-President, and 56 others who make up the Union's Executive Board.
"Our campaign was based on positive achievements in collective bargaining, contract enforcement, member involvement and community service. These results demonstrate that the members support our approach. We look forward to serving the entire membership in the years ahead," said Russow in commenting on the election results. Russow will be serving his second term as 951 President.
Voting took place at polling places throughout Michigan on July 21st and 22nd. UFCW 951 is Michigan's largest local union with nearly 28,000 members who work at retail stores, food processing and manufacturing plants and nursing homes throughout the state. Meijer employees make up the majority of the 951 membership. Other members work at Fry Krisp, Harding's, Health Care Services, Knouse Foods, Kroger, Orchard Grove Nursing Home, Papa Scott's, Plumb's, Polly's, and Rite Aid.
