Martin's Potato Rolls and Bread Announces Charity Contest Winner
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Five food-based charities in five different cities recently participated in a charity contest called: "Taste the Difference, Make a Difference Charity Contest." Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe, known for their famous "Martin's Potato Rolls and Bread," created the contest as a way to share blessings with worthy charities within their distribution area so that these organizations can provide meals and assistance to those in need within their communities.
This year, the third year of running a charity-focused contest, Martin's selected organizations that were focused on fighting hunger in the cities of Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, and Philadelphia. The contest was promoted online through the participants' websites and social media sites with all voting being held on Martin's website. Voting took place throughout the month of November.
The first-place winner of the contest was the Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans. They earned the highest number of votes supporting their charity and received $10,000 in donations from Martin's as a result. Philabundance, a food bank located in Philadelphia, came in second place and received $6,000 in donations. The other three charity participants--Atlanta Community Food Bank, Greater Boston Food Bank, and Greater Chicago Food Depository--were all given $2,000 in donations as well.
