Martina Nardo is recognized by Continental Who's Who

NEW YORK, Feb. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Martina Nardo is recognized by Continental Who's Who among Pinnacle Professionals as a Top Cake Designer 2016/17 in the field of Design. Her professional title is Owner of Sugar Sketch Cake Design.

Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Nardo grew up around her grandmother’s cooking, which was made up of delicious food, particularly desserts. However, her passion for cake decorating and design started when she embarked on an internship at a cake shop. Nardo was amazed to see a simple sketch come to life for the first time. Since then, she hasn’t stopped baking and creating.

Nardo utilized that passion to create Sugar Sketch Cake Design. “My work aims at combining Italian traditional flavor profiles with modern American designs using the best quality ingredients to create something memorable is both beautiful and tasteful,” she said on the company website. Nardo’s creativity was also influenced by her mother, who is a graphic designer and illustrator and “encouraged her to apply her creativity towards her cakes, making them great works of art.”

Specializing in baking, cake decorating, catering, event planning and management, recipes and more, Nardo creates various styles of cakes, cupcakes and cookies for all events of all age groups. She also previously partnered with the former wheat-free bakery Pip’s Place to assist her in the creation of gluten- free cakes.

To further her professional development, Nardo is member of the National Association of Professional Women, which recognized her as a VIP Woman of the Year. Aside from the demands of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, relaxing and reading.

When beginning her educational career, Nardo earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the New School in New York City. She then went on to complete additional training and experience at the Institute of Culinary Education as well as the French Culinary Institute, now known as the International Culinary Institute.

Nardo now has a new store front, which opened in September of 2016 at 172 E 2nd Street, and is located in Manhattan. She calls it Sugar Sketch Cakery.
