Gomez Iagmin Trial Attorneys Welcomes Martin Buchanan as Of Counsel Attorney to the Firm
SAN DIEGO, May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Gomez Iagmin Trial Attorneys announces that Martin Buchanan has joined the firm in an "Of Counsel" capacity. Martin will provide complex litigation and appellate services to clients of Gomez Iagmin Trial Attorneys, a plaintiff's firm specializing in serious personal injury, wrongful death, complex product liability and mass torts.
Martin's experience handling approximately 300 appeals and writs in state and federal appellate courts includes briefing, arguing, and winning a unanimous decision in the U.S. Supreme Court in Williamson v. Mazda Motor of America, Inc., 131 S.Ct. 1131 (2011). Williamson was a products liability case against Mazda for failure to install a lap/shoulder seatbelt in the aisle seat of a minivan. On October 26, 2012, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego presented Martin with the Outstanding Advocate Award for his victory in Williamson.
Martin has co-authored and filed an amicus brief on behalf of Marriage Equality U.S.A. in the U.S. Supreme Court case challenging California's initiative against same-sex marriage.
In 2012, California Lawyer magazine awarded Martin a prestigious California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (CLAY) award in the appellate category. In 2011 and 2012, Martin was recognized as one of 500 Leading Lawyers in America by Lawdragon. In 2011, he was named as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and one of the Attorneys of the Year by The Recorder. Martin graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1986, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. He served as a law clerk for the late Chief Judge Robert F. Peckham of the Northern District of California. Martin also worked as a senior staff attorney for Justice Cynthia G. Aaron of the California Court of Appeal in San Diego.
