Marrone Bio Innovations Receives California Registration for Regalia(R) Fungicide
Regalia provides Fungal & Bacterial Disease Control for Many Crops
DAVIS, Calif., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI) announces that the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has approved the use of Regalia® in the state of California. Regalia contains a unique active ingredient from the extract of giant knotweed that provides superior control of both fungal and bacterial diseases in many key California crops. It is already being successfully integrated into disease control programs in other regions of the US and abroad, resulting in increased quality and yields for growers.
"Regalia is a powerful tool for controlling Downy mildew, Powdery mildew, Botrytis gray mold, Early blight, Late blight, Bacterial leaf spot, Citrus canker and more," states Chris Hildreth, Sr VP of Commercial Operations.
"There have been hundreds of field trials performed by universities and private researchers on this novel product over the past ten years, " explains Western Product Development Specialist, Celeste Gilbert. "Used alone, in tank mixes and rotations, these trials show that integrating Regalia into the program results in improved crop quality, greater yields and is an excellent return on the grower's investment. It offers particularly good value in rotations with major groups of chemical fungicides since the disease control is often better in rotation than the chemical alone."
Of specific interest to California walnut growers is Regalia's proven activity against Xanthomonas campestris, and its ability to aid in the management of copper-resistant strains in Walnut Blight control programs.
California's leafy greens growers will benefit from Regalia's proven activity against Downy Mildew, and its residue exempt status.
And, for California's grape growers, Regalia provides excellent early season control of powdery mildew, and can be safely used in rotation with sulfur, unlike other leading products. Additionally, Regalia offers late season control of Botrytis bunch rot with 4-hour reentry and zero day pre-harvest interval.
Also, for the increasing number of growers following organic and/or sustainable practices, Regalia is fully compliant with the National Organic Program (NOP) and is an OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) listed material.
Regalia works by switching on the plant's own natural defense mechanisms so plants produce and accumulate higher levels of natural proteins and other compounds that inhibit disease development. This novel mode of action makes it a critically important IPM tool for fungicide resistance management.
Regalia has a re-entry interval (REI) of only 4 hours and a zero day pre-harvest interval (PHI) giving growers excellent operational flexibility and a residue free harvest. A complete list of crops and diseases may be found on the product label. Visit www.marronebio.com/regalia for more information.
