After this survey was conducted, spending during the 2014 holiday season was greater than expected. From those surveyed in 2013, 12% - 24% of affluent spenders spent more money on holiday gifts than they expected, supporting the idea that the affluent often spend more than expected.
This year should also see increased vacationing from affluent families. When surveyed, 53% of affluent families agreed that they would return to a favorite vacation destination within the next 12 months; while 40% agreed they would travel with adult children and/or grandchildren.
