The Rising Star Takes on the Established Master - on the field and as marketing icons
The Rising Star Takes on the Established Master - on the field and as marketing icons
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers take on the Denver Broncos, led by 5-time MVP Peyton Manning, a similar battle is taking place for the hearts, minds, and endorsement dollars of the American public.
New E-Score polling data shows that Peyton Manning still has the highest E-Score of all active NFL players, and above almost all celebrities in general. Newton has had a meteoric rise with an E-Score above where Manning was in 2004, following Manning's first MVP award.
Survey respondents describe Manning as "Classy," "Down-to-Earth" and "Still the NFL Marquee personality." Newton is described as "Dynamic," Exciting" and "Very cool." Newton's scores are also trending strong among younger demographics, as 39% of males 13-24 consider him "Exciting," well above the average for all NFL players of 16%.
Newton is clearly in hot pursuit of Manning's legacy on and off the field, and Sunday's results will determine not only who hoists the trophy, but also whom we might see in commercials for years to come.
