Marken Rapidly Responds to Global Supply Chain Security Measures
LONDON, Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The discovery of two explosive devices at East Midlands and Dubai airports has once again highlighted the continued risk posed to the aviation networks by terrorism. One of the bombs posted from Yemen last week was transported on two passenger planes before being seized in Dubai, Qatar Airways has said. The device was carried on an Airbus A320 from Sanaa to Doha. It contained the powerful explosive PETN, which is difficult to detect.
Marken is accredited to many global security programs such as Customs and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism ("CTPAT"), Certified Cargo Screening Program ("CCSP"), Indirect Air Carrier ("IAC") in the US, and has achieved Regulated Agent Status across our global network of offices. These programs are supported by SOPs and management systems to ensure compliance and enable quick implementation of any additional security requirements that may be imposed in the coming weeks. We are already prepared to securely manage shipments of life science materials and the ban on air freight into Western Europe from Somalia and Yemen has minimal effect on our operational network and service.
Currently, Western Governments are convening National Security meetings to formulate a response to this latest terrorist attack. The implementation of new stringent security requirements for international shipping is inevitable as well as the requirement for better documentation and management of truly critical shipments. Marken routinely works with the regulators and industry bodies who will be tasked with making some difficult choices on protecting global transportation and keeping global supply chains flowing.
To support our clients, Marken actively monitors the ever changing landscape of global logistics regulations and delivers expertise to support our clients programs. Our commitment to the safe, secure and expedited transport of time and temperature sensitive life science products remains our top priority and we will implement any measures required to guarantee the continued flow of the global life science supply chain.
