Markel American Insurance Company Names the Winner of the Markel Day on the Lake with Shaw Grigsby Photo Contest

WAUKESHA, Wis., Dec. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Markel American Insurance Company recently announced the winner of their "Markel Day on the Lake with Shaw Grigsby Photo Contest." The nationally run contest asked participants to upload a photo of  themselves with their boat that best represented their favorite fishing or boating spot, along with a brief essay on why it was their perfect boating or fishing location.

Markel received hundreds of entries, all featuring great photos and essays, and has officially deemed a winner - Steve Godlewski of Bloomington, Illinois.  Godlewski and one guest will receive one full day on the water fishing with 13-time Bassmaster Classic Qualifier and winner of the 2011 Bassmaster Elite Series Sunshine Showdown Shaw Grigsby, on one of Grigsby's favorite, hometown lakes in Florida.

"When Markel first ran the idea past me, I didn't even have to think twice about it," said Grigsby. "Any day out on the water is a great day. But being able to teach others about the true joys of fishing is even better. I hope Steve is ready to catch a big ol' pig!"

Godlewski's entry won because it best exemplified the contest's judging criteria: the ability to demonstrate the emotion of boating or fishing, while also having originality, creativity, and a grammatically correct essay.
