Mark Lanier, Seven Others at Lanier Law Firm Earn National Best Lawyers Honors
Lanier named top Houston attorney for plaintiffs' mass tort, class action litigation
HOUSTON, Aug. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Eight attorneys from The Lanier Law Firm have been named among the best in the nation in the 2018 edition of the prestigious legal publication The Best Lawyers in America.
Firm founder Mark Lanier was recognized as Houston's Lawyer of the Year for plaintiffs' mass tort and class action litigation. This honor follows two recent high-profile jury verdicts totaling more than $1.5 billion against health care giant Johnson & Johnson, manufacturer of the DePuy Orthopaedics metal-on-metal hip implants.
Mr. Lanier has been listed in Best Lawyers for more than a decade for his work in commercial disputes and litigation involving serious personal injuries, dangerous consumer products and mass torts.
Four Lanier Law Firm attorneys earned Best Lawyers recognition for the first time.
Evan M. Janush, managing attorney of the firm's New York office, was selected for his work in mass torts and class actions. He has significant experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation and is the leader of the firm's Employment Litigation practice.
Kevin P. Parker, head of the firm's Issues and Appeals Section, was recognized by Best Lawyers in the area of appellate practice. The Houston-based attorney has handled more than 20 cases at the appeals level and has been a key contributor in numerous civil trials for the firm and its clients.
Judson A. Waltman, managing attorney in Houston over Personal Injury, Product Liability and Maritime Litigation, was selected in the personal injury litigation area based on his successful representation of plaintiffs who are victims of unsafe products, medical malpractice and corporate negligence.
Lawrence P. Wilson was recognized for his product liability litigation. The Houston-based Mr. Wilson has secured significant compensation for clients in numerous jury trials involving unsafe products as well as medical malpractice, sexual assault, age discrimination, premises liability and other negligence claims.
In addition to the attorneys named to Best Lawyers for the first time, the firm's Richard D. Meadow claimed his fifth consecutive listing based on his work for plaintiffs in class actions and mass torts, as well as personal injury claims. The firm's National Mass Torts Leader, Mr. Meadow, who works from the Houston office, is widely recognized as one of the nation's top lawyers in mass tort cases and class actions.
Dara G. Hegar, managing attorney of the Lanier Law Firm, was honored for a second consecutive year for her work on behalf of victims of serious personal injuries. In addition to her work on the hip implant cases, she helped the firm prevail in the nation's first trial involving the controversial painkiller Vioxx and in securing a significant courtroom victory involving the diabetes drug Actos.
The firm's in-house trial psychologist Dr. Robert Leone also claimed his second consecutive appearance in Best Lawyers for his work in cases involving dangerous products. An accomplished lawyer who holds a doctorate in clinical psychology, Dr. Leone has played a role in litigating some of the highest-profile cases in history.
