PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Group, a leading global provider of professional energy efficiency improvements, today launches The HeatSeeker by Mark Group in the Philadelphia region. The first of its kind in the country, The HeatSeeker uses award-winning thermal imaging technology to highlight homes losing heat that would benefit from proper sealing and insulation.

"As the region braces for colder temperatures, residents face increased costs to heat their homes. With this technology, residents can be empowered to take control of their homes' energy efficiency and reduce their monthly energy spend," said Jeff Bartos, Mark Group President and CEO.
Using a patented thermal imaging process, a specially equipped vehicle captures thermal images. After gathering the images, Mark Group thermographers will read and rate them based on visible heat loss. Homeowners whose properties have relatively high losses will be notified and have the opportunity to view their homes' thermograph.
"Thermal images provide compelling, irrefutable evidence of how and where homes are losing heat – a valuable first step assisting homeowners in making informed decisions to properly seal and increase insulation," Bartos said.
Since 2009, when Mark Group launched HeatSeekers in the UK, the vehicles have identified almost one million homes with potential insulation needs. Consequently, more than 45,000 insulation improvements have been made – or are due to be made – generating potential annual savings of over 28,000 tons of CO2 and $8.3 million in energy bills.
"Mark Group is committed to helping people find energy saving solutions. I am excited they are bringing The HeatSeeker to Philadelphia," said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. "The HeatSeeker coincides with the energy initiatives under the City's Greenworks Philadelphia plan and brings us one step closer to being the greenest city in America."
