Mario Garnero Joins Global Effort to Improve Life in Haiti
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mario Garnero, Chairman of Brasilinvest, Brazil's pioneer merchant bank, was invited by Haiti's President Michel Martelly to join Haiti's Presidential Advisory Council on Economic Growth & Investment.
He participated at the Inaugural Assembly in New York on September 21, 2011.
This event marked the inauguration of the Council's mission to transform and promote Haiti in order to create jobs and foster economic development for the people of Haiti.
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world. In 2010, Haiti had a substantial part of the country further destroyed by a devastating earthquake that claimed the lives of more 300 thousand people.
"There is a lot Brazil can offer Haiti in terms of aid and technical assistance," Garnero said. "Institutions like Embrapa, Brazil's Agricultural research company, can make a difference to millions of Haitians," he added.
