Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center Patient Will Represent New York State as Part of a Group of Young Medical Champions
Frankie Flora will visit Capitol Hill to share his remarkable medical experience with Children's Miracle Network's program Champions presented by Walmart and Sam's Club
VALHALLA, N.Y., May 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Children's Miracle Network and Walmart have named a patient from Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center as a Champion for New York State.
Frankie Flora, 6, who was the victim of a savage dog attack in 2009 and has undergone several surgeries at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, will join child ambassadors, known as Champions, from every state as part of the Children's Miracle Network program Champions presented by Walmart and Sam's Club. The program brings attention to the important work being done at children's hospitals by honoring remarkable children like Frankie who have triumphed despite severe medical challenges.
Frankie and his fellow champions will travel for two separate weeks as representatives of the 17 million children treated annually at Children's Miracle Network hospitals throughout the United States. The Champions will travel first to Washington, D.C., in June where they will visit The White House and Capitol Hill to share their stories of medical victory, then to Orlando in November for the Children's Miracle Network Celebration event at Walt Disney World.
Since the partnership began in 1987, Children's Miracle Network and Walmart have worked together to help children by raising money for children's hospitals. This year, Walmart and Sam's Club associates, customers and members are celebrating the contribution of more than $500 million to children's hospitals during the relationship.
This is the second year Walmart and Sam's Club have sponsored the Champions program.
