Margaret I. Cuomo, M.D. to Speak at Wellness House on A World Without Cancer
HINSDALE, Ill., May 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wellness House is pleased to welcome board certified radiologist and author, Margaret I. Cuomo, M.D. on June 14 to discuss her call to action to eradicate cancer in A World Without Cancer.
When it comes to tackling cancer and eradicating it for good, Margaret I. Cuomo, M.D. has set forth a plan to change the status quo. Having experienced the loss of many friends and members of her family to cancer, Dr. Cuomo has observed first-hand the issues related to current treatment methods. Recognizing the lack of significant progress in the prevention of cancer, she wrote A World Without Cancer, which reveals how profit, politics, and personal ambition have hindered progress in cancer research and in cancer prevention. The book is a call to action that will empower all stakeholders – the pharmaceutical industry, the government, physicians, and all concerned Americans – to transform the way we view and fight cancer.
She is the daughter of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo and Mrs. Matilda Cuomo, sister to Governor Andrew Cuomo and CNN's Chris Cuomo, and the wife of Howard Maier. She has been interviewed on many TV shows, such as Good Morning America, Good Day New York, Morning Joe, Inside Edition, and national and regional radio programs, and has been featured in many magazines and newspapers, including Better Homes and Gardens, Education Update, Family Circle, Glamour, InStyle, Manhattan, Metro Newspapers, Networking, New York Daily News, O Magazine, Parade, People, Prevention, Redbook, Vogue and Women's Day, and on-line sites (DoctorOz.com, Glamour.com, DailyBeast.com, Prevention.com, BlackstoneAudio.com, ASCOPost.com, EverydayHealth.com). Dr. Cuomo is a contributor and a member of the Medical Review Board of the Huffington Post, and is also a regular contributor to WebMD. She advocates nationally for the prevention of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
"We are so pleased to have Dr. Cuomo share her message of tipping the scales to eliminate cancer. And until cancer is eliminated, we will continue to provide education, support and resources to people experiencing the impact of cancer," says Executive Director, Jeannie Cella, LCPC.
A community event is open to the public on Friday, June 14, from 12:00 to 1:30pm. An additional event and booksigning especially for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, will be held that evening from 6:00 to 7:30pm. The programs are free of charge and registration is required at wellnesshouse.org or by calling 630-323-5150.
