HONOLULU, June 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Washington, D.C. veteran Margaret Cummisky will join Hawaiian Airlines as Managing Director of Federal Government Relations, the airline announced today. Cummisky, formerly a senior staff member for Senator Daniel K. Inouye and currently Assistant Secretary for Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs with the U.S. Department of Commerce, will open Hawaiian Airlines' Washington, D.C. office on June 27, 2015.

Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Commerce, Cummisky served as General Counsel and Deputy Staff Director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations; Democratic Staff Director and Chief Counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation; and Legislative Director of the Office of Senator Daniel K. Inouye.
Cummisky was born and raised in Hawai'i, where she graduated from Leilehua High School on the island of O'ahu. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and a law degree from the University Of Southern California Gould School Of Law. She is an active member of the U.S. Japan Council, an organization dedicated to promoting U.S.-Japan alliances.
