American Red Cross Greater NY Region Partners With Top Chef Meals
NEW YORK, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- For nearly 100 years, Presidents of the United States have called on its citizens to support the Red Cross and its humanitarian mission. Top Chef Meals, a Westchester County and Manhattan-based creator of high-quality, home-delivered gourmet meals, is doing its part having recently entered into a two year partnership with the American Red Cross Greater NY Region to serve as a provider of emergency meals during a large-scale disaster. The Region includes six American Red Cross chapters: Greater New York, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Shelter Island, and Greenwich, Connecticut.
The American Red Cross Greater NY Region assists New York City residents daily, having recently helped over 400 people affected by 29 fires and other incidents within the region over the course of a weekend. Top Chef Meals was selected as an American Red Cross meal provider for its ability to quickly prepare and deliver meals to various locations within the metro NY Region. "Our planning efforts include identifying and contracting with catering operations that have the capacity to prepare large quantities of food in support of large-scale emergencies," said Sharon Hawa, Director of Mass Care and Sheltering for the American Red Cross in Greater New York. As the region's lead Chapter, the Greater New York American Red Cross jurisdiction includes the five boroughs of New York City as well as Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, and Rockland Counties. With the recent expansion of its production, storage and freezer space, Top Chef Meals can prepare 8,000 meals per day. The company will be able to respond to needs seamlessly, without interrupting its day-to-day operations.
