Marathon Health Appoints Vice President for Government Relations

BURLINGTON, Vt., April 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Marathon Health, a provider of onsite health centers that enable employers to optimize the health of their workforce and business, today announced the appointment of Larry Morrissey as vice president for government relations. In this role, Morrissey will expand the company's services to public sector clients and direct government relations at the local, state and national level.

Morrissey, a three-term mayor of Rockford, Ill., was introduced to Marathon Health during the city's selection process for a worksite health center partner to serve the healthcare needs of its employees. During his tenure as mayor, Morrissey moved the city's health fund from a $3 million deficit to an over $8 million reserve in 2012, which helped the city open its Health and Wellness Center in 2014.  

In addition to direct experience in worksite health, Morrissey's experience driving individual and community health outcomes includes the city becoming the first in America to achieve the  "functional zero" definition for ending Veteran Homelessness in December 2015. At Marathon Health, Morrissey will use his broad experience to drive value-added partnerships that help public and private employers improve health outcomes for their respective populations.
