--Selected by Jury of Designers Based on its Highly Intuitive User Interface--
WAYNE, N.J., Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MAQUET Medical Systems USA today announced that its TEGRIS Operating Room (OR) Integration system has been selected to receive the iF communication design award 2013 for its highly intuitive and customizable user interface. Launched in the United States in July 2012, TEGRIS allows for seamless surgical suite control by providing OR staff with a single point of control for all recording devices, OR equipment and room functions.
"The selection of TEGRIS for this prestigious design award validates the hard work of our design and engineering teams, who strive to ensure that all of our products are highly intuitive and user friendly," said Raoul Quintero, President and CEO, MAQUET Medical Systems USA. "In today's highly complex OR environment, having a user-friendly system to manage inputs and outputs is vital. Because TEGRIS seamlessly integrates diverse technologies and is completely open and modular, it puts comprehensive patient data at the surgeon's fingertips in an efficient platform. This empowers medical professionals across every touch point to stay focused on the patient, enhancing efficiency and minimizing errors."
A jury of design, business and industry experts from around the world selected TEGRIS for the iF communication design award 2013. For 60 years, the iF communication design award has been an internationally recognized label for outstanding achievements in design. TEGRIS will be recognized with the renowned iF label, which symbolizes extraordinary quality and excellent design.
About TEGRIS
With TEGRIS, OR teams can capture high-definition images and videos (from endoscopes, OR light cameras, room cameras, vital data, etc.) during various procedures and can record two video sources in HD quality simultaneously. Footage can be streamed directly from the OR to lecture halls, conference rooms or offices for real-time training or consultation. Staff can also save images and videos directly to the PACS in DICOM format and retrieve patient data directly from the central touchscreen. Surgical safety checklists are seamlessly integrated into the system's workflow model, and as all patient information is imported directly from the HIS, no manual data entry is needed, helping to minimize errors.
Designed for maximum flexibility, TEGRIS also interfaces with diverse systems, including HIS, PACS and other patient databases. It supports all common hardware and software interfaces, is vendor-neutral with regard to certain OR devices (e.g., endoscope manufacturers) and works with universal standards (e.g., DICOM). Because TEGRIS integrates seamlessly into the existing IT environment, it can adapt to changing requirements, making it a future-proof solution for hospitals.
